Downtown San Diego

If your coming down to California and you want to have some fun, forget hollywood, head down to San Diego. Whether your in your twenties or fifties, single or married with children, San Diego has much to offer you. Head down to the center of it all in downtown San Diego. Catch the San Diego Padres Play at Petco Park, be aware that tickets sell out fast, so if you come last minute, you might miss out. Head down to the Gaslamp quarter for all the real fun. Block after block of bars, nightclubs, and restaurants, and shops, over 140 of them. Anything you can want as an adult will be in the Gaslamp quarter. My favorite was the Cuban Cigar Factory. I often fancy a good cigar, this spot had plenty of them. Located in the middle of the Gaslamp quarter, tucked away between other bars. When you walk inside, you are consumed with the smell of at least 20 different cigars. After you pass the bar, which serves beer and a great selection of wine, you get to their humidor. The humidor is filled with an enormous variety of cigars including cigars manufactured at their location by professional Cuban cigar rollers. If you don't mind indoor smoking, and enjoy a good cigar, this spot is definitely worth checking out. If not, you can try all the other bars, it would probably take you a week to bar hoop, but you will have fun doing it because from the looks of it, every spot is great considering that most of them were packed almost to capacity. If you are a high roller, no worries, plenty of fancy and expensive dinning all over San Diego, including Morton's the Steakhouse.

San Diego is full of many other popular attractions, including the world famous Sea World, and the San Diego Zoo. Both great places for all visitors. Personally I prefer the zoo, because once you get tired and want to take a break from all the walking and the screaming children, you can head up to Alberts, right in the middle of the zoo, which offers a full bar, and fine dining. Once you go inside of Alberts, the noise of the zoo disappears and all you can hear is a nice little waterfall by the patio seating. In the fall and winter time you can also check out a fun football game and head down to Qualcomm Stadium to watch the Chargers play. And of course during the summertime, the beach is right around the corner.

San Diego is Definitely one of my favorite spots in California to get away. It gets very busy, somewhat pricy, and the drivers are terrible, but getting around on foot is very easy, and the weather is usually great. San Diego is definitely the Miami of the West Coast.
