World peace requires an individual effort

Mankind, since the cave era when man could not speak, has always fought. The world has had some evolution. People changed their habits and became more sophisticated, but it seems that emotionally and rationally, human beings have not progressed much.

Hammurabi said \"Eye for an Eye\" meaning that whatever would be done to one person or group would be returned in kind. However, human beings have gone a little beyond that, not for better quite often. Most of the time it seems that getting even is not enough, but getting even and more.

It is very simple to criticize, to elaborate speeches to get others attention. It is flattering to discuss politics and point out all the mistakes that all the governments do, did or will do.

It is so much easier to blame others for what is happening around us. It is human nature to find excuses for what it has not been done, and dream what it could be.

What is each person doing on an individual basis to change the world? Could anything be done? Probably most would think that individual effort will make no difference or very little. Many say that they are trying and some have tried their entire lives.

To be in present proves to be a difficult task. It seems that a quite large number of people live either in the past or in the future. A world peace is possible by changing oneself, setting an example, by looking within, by having the desire to make a difference, exercising and practicing love to one another even as challenging and impossible it may seem.

Einstein said that \"You can not search for peace and prepare for war at the same time.\" So if we want peace, we have to start with ourselves. We have to think that peace is not a dream to chat about but, instead, believe it is a dream that could be a reality.

It can be done. We, as individuals, do make a difference. Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and many others made a difference.
